Bangladesh Association, Houston (BAH) was established in 1978 to cherish, promote and share the ideals and rich cultural heritage of Bangladesh. It was the natural progression of the Bangladesh Student Association at the University of Houston. BAH and its members work diligently to keep the ideals vigilant among all of us, young and old! BAH also helps establish forums for the welfare of the community by exchanging ideas between the members and the people in and around our community. It is not only an event based organization, but also a support based organization that takes an active role in assisting people and the community when needed. Over the years BAH organized cultural events and commemorative functions, as well as fund raising activities to help victims of natural disaster in Bangladesh and in Houston.
Dear Community Members,
On April 3, 2026, the Bangladesh Association of Houston proudly hosted a historic Gala, bringing together nearly 400 members of our community to celebrate and advance the Bangladesh American Center (BAC). We are deeply grateful to every dignitary, community leader, member, donor, and volunteer who made this evening truly unforgettable.
Because of your trust and generosity, we exceeded our goal — raising over $600,000 in a single night.
WHERE WE STAND
The total project requirement is $1.6 million, covering construction and one year of sustainability. With a $1 million bridge loan already secured, we needed to raise $600,000 to reach our milestone — and together, we did exactly that. We are now fully funded to cross the finish line. This is a one-of-a-kind achievement in North America — a piece of Sonar Bangla, right here in Houston.
OUR GRATITUDE
Our deepest thanks go first to our volunteers, whose tireless dedication made this Gala a historic success. Each of you played an irreplaceable role.
We extend our sincere appreciation to Gala Chair Mr. Arun Roy for his extraordinary leadership and four decades of unwavering service to this community, and to Keynote Speaker Mr. Hasan Rahman for his inspiring vision and the confidence he has always placed in this dream.
We also honor the community leaders and past leaders who attended and whose contributions—seen and unseen—have carried this journey forward: Dr. Nizam Meah, Mr. Shah Haleem, Mr. Khaled Zulfiqur Khan, and Mr. Hasan Rahman. We also extend our appreciation to the many others who have stood with us over the years.
EVERY GIFT COMPLETES THE CENTER
While our Gala opened with inspiring leadership gifts, the truth is that every contribution — of any size — is what truly completes this center. If you were unable to attend or felt the evening's opening pledges were beyond your reach, please know this: no gift is too small when the dream is this big and the finish line is this close. Whether it is $25, $250, or $2,500, your gift carries the same love and the same legacy. As the old saying goes — small rivers make a mighty ocean.
This center belongs to all of us. And all of us can help complete it.
