Houston Bangladeshi Community organized an elaborate program with other local community organizations to observe the International Mother Language Day on February 25, 2007 at University of Houston. Hundreds of people from different ethnic group participated in the day long program.
City councilman Mr. Peter Brown, and Mr. Gordon Quan and many others were presented to observe the day. Proclamation from Congressman Nick Lampson was presented to proclaim the 8th International Mother Language Day.
The program was highlighted by cultural presentation from Bangladesh, India, and Nepal after the traditional morning rally. Bangla movie Shamol Chaya was shown to highlight the rich cultural heritage of Bangladesh. Along with cultural program Pothatik Natto Shongsod presented a wonderful live drama. The biggest success of the program was children art competition where more then 50 kids participated in three different groups.
